I rescued this dog one month ago and think he might be Dogo mix. He is identical to a Dogo except for the color. Besides that he has no dog smell even when wet, identical physical features, a squared front row of teeth, hanging lip, zero aggression, great with ppl/animals, yet stands his ground as a puppy with bigger older aggressors, a coat that feels like satin, very short hair, the 'pirata' patch, is immensely affectionate, makes the stink eye, somehow convinces you to let him sit on the couch. The list goes on and on lol. My girl and I were offroading literally in the middle of the desert when we crossed paths with this pup. We were miles away from the nearest road or anything else. He was sunburned, dehydrated, traumatized, and would have died that day. The heat was close to 110 with no shade anywhere. He still displays some signs of ptsd but has come a long way in just 4 weeks. He does get tons of affection and assurance tho. I knew the dog was something special but never imagined he is what some consider the 'master race' of dogs. I've read that as sweet and gentle as they are, dogos are also considered to be the 2nd closest thing to hunting with a lion by some hunters. I used to think the dog was lucky that I found him. Now I believe I'm the lucky one. What do you guys think he might be mixed with? If it weren't for the coat I'd think he's pure breed since has so many Dogo characteristics. Also the coat looks black but in the sun it looks like A VERY dark brindle.
