Hey All. I wanted to get the ball rolling, in a new forum for all of us dogo lovers to come, and be a little more open. Hopefully, through these open channels we can learn and teach, and also move forward to make this breed all that it can be! All newcomers to the breed are welcome, ANY questions you have, don't be afraid to ask, someone will answer! If you have a new pup we want pictures. And if you're thinking about getting a new pup, take the time to learn!

The community is small thus far, but hopefully we will grow. Spread the word. You have any new pictures of your dogo. Zoe if I remember, right?

Sorry it took so long guys. Zoey is doing great. I am in the middle of a move so my computer time has been greatly diminished. I'll definately get something up ASAP.

Hello everyone! I'm new to Dogos but not new to dogs or the mastiff/molloser breeds. My husband and I adopted Vida through La Historia Dogo's Big Love Molloser Rescue effort. We researched the type of dog that we were going to invite in to our home for a long time and considered Cane Corsos, Presa Canarios, etc., and after several years decided Dogos were the right fit for us. I have worked on the schutzhund field with GSDs and an exceptional Doberman female that had her SCH B title as well as advanced obedience titles and conformation points. (I hate to track! lol) We have a combined background of raising, training and exhibiting world class halter horses (me), team roping (him) and my husband, Bobby, is an avid hunter (including hogs). We are so enamored with Vida that we anticipate having more Dogos in our life at some point. While Vida is an experienced hog hunting girl, she had suffered from heat stroke in her previous home and the Oklahoma heat makes hog hunting here not an option for her. My poor husband, however, can hardly stand it ... he jokingly pats her on the head and whispers in her ear that while I'm at work they'll just sneak out and go for a quick hunt and I'll be none the wiser! lol I assure them both that if a single rhinestone gets popped off that pink collar she's wearing I'll know it and they'll both be in hot water. I'm the practice manager at a veterinary hospital and my husband is a career firefighter of 21 years. That's us in a nutshell! I look forward to getting to knowing everyone and learning everything I can about Dogos while I'm here. Best wishes, Misti Sanders

Well our girl Vida had herself a little meltdown yesterday. She got out of her kennel yesterday morning while I was at work, gathered up a fine selection of my things from my office, bedroom and the sunroom to include: a pair of my tennis shoes, my pink slippers, a large medallion ribbon from the mare that we won the World Championship with, a handmade doll a friend gave me as a gift, and four different packages of various size glass I make jewelry with. She had to travel all throughout the house to acquire these different items.
She moved all of this stuff in to the living room where she went to the bathroom (#1 and #2... what a grownup way to put it, I know! lol). She then proceeded to chew up my cherished medallion ribbon from my horse show, disassembled all of the beveled glass from their cardboard wrappers that I use in my jewelry making, removed the hair from the handmade doll, and greeted me at the door when I came home after only a four hour absence. She refrained from chewing up my shoes or my slippers - which she brought from my closet. Mind you she had been taken outside to potty before I left for work that morning. She is also kept in a crate with double locks on it - one on the top and one on the bottom so getting out could have been no easy fete.
Since she loves my husband but is bonded with me - follows me around the house and lays at my feet wherever I am I think she suffered a little separation anxiety after having spent the whole weekend at my side. When I am at home she's not insecure ... she doesn't dog my every step. If I get up to go and get coffee she'll stay where she's at. If she gets tired of laying on the carpet at my feet in the living room she will get up and go and get on one of her two pillows - one is in my office and the other is by my bed in the bedroom. SO, I'm not really sure what went on yesterday but she had some sort of little issue. Any thoughts on this one? This might be better posted for the "training" area. If Admin would like to move it, please feel free to do so.
I would appreciate everyone's input on this.
Best wishes, Misti

Hi , I am owner of a wonderful 2 1/2 year old DOGO names Lacey and she is wonderful. I adopted her feb. of 08
So well behaved. The only issue I have with her is the fact that she can be very territorial and defensive when it comes to protecting me, my house and anyone who walks near my property.
She will bark ferociously. So she has some aggression problems. When it comes to other dogs, she is just like most people. Some she likes, and some she doesn't. So I am not able to really socialize her with other dogs in a park setting because she may bite.
Does anyone have any training tips or suggestions that I can implement or a good DOGO trainer?
Thanks!
