I have seen some misinformation posted lately. Coincidentally timed near a disagreement I had with someone concerning pedigree validity and worth. So I will post here, a little info on each of the kennel club and registries. Any questions or if you feel some info is inaccurate go ahead and let me know:
FCA(Federacion Cinologica Argentina): This is the registry and kennel club that is the "owner" of the Dogo Argentino. This is the paperwork that you will get from any Dogo imported from Argentina. Once you receive a dog from there, you will re validate with our "local" affiliate country "Puerto Rico". You will now be able to register litters with Puerto Ricos kennel club FCPR(Federación Canófila de Puerto Rico) and FCA. Your paperwork is now in both stud books, it is NOT removed from either one.
FCPR(Federación Canófila de Puerto Rico): Our closest affiliate country(being that the US doesn't have a kennel club that is FCI recognized, technically. This is where any U.S. bred Dogo Argentino will be registered. From there, they can be transferred to any affiliate country.
FCI(Fédération Cynologique Internationale): They say it best on their own site so here it is: the World Canine Organization. It includes 84 members and contract partners (one member per country) that each issue their own pedigrees and train their own judges. The FCI makes sure that the pedigrees and judges are mutually recognized by all the FCI members.
UKC(United Kennel Club): This is a U.S. only kennel club. The paperwork is only valid here in the states and is not transferable elsewhere. The UKC hosts conformation shows and field trials that can be entered by dogs registered with them. They will register litters and also will single dog register dogs with other pedigrees. In some instances you can register a previously unregistered dog by providing 3 generations of known parents and multiple pictures. Once registered with this Kennel club you may change the name of the dog as long as it has not been bred or received a title. No other registry alows this.
AKC(American Kennel Club): As of right now the Dogo is only registerable through their foundation stock service(FSS). The AKC accepts pedigrees from all of the above registries plus the DACA and ADCA(breed clubs).
DACA:(Dogo Argentino Club of America) One of the breed specific clubs in the U.S. that holds shows and hunting events for the Dogo. They also have a registry that is only good for AKCFSS and themselves.
ADCA(Argentine Dogo Club of America): Another breed club that registers Dogo Argentino in the U.S. Valid only for themselves and AKCFSS. As far as I know they are inactive.
NAKC(North American Kennel Club) Not a registry. Only a show club for All Breeds. They offer the more widely recognized Championships in the U.S. Though these do not transfer to the pedigree registries.
I'll write a little for instance to give you an idea what all of this means....You get a Dogo from Argentina and want to show it. You can show it in NAKC without registering with any other organization. However once you want to breed this Dogo you will need to revalidate the pedigree with the registry that the bitch is registered with. If that is the FCPR than you will revalidate your Dog with them and then you can register your litter. Your dog will still be registered with the FCA and will be able to stud to bitches in Argentina. If you don't show or breed your dogo, you can just send in for your pedigree and leave it in the original countries registry.
